Why choose a twin ram baler?

  • Flexibility and Versatility: Twin-ram balers are extremely suitable for a wide range of materials (pre-programmed with 12 different programs), including materials that are difficult to compress or have high “memory.” It is easy to switch between different materials — just press the screen — and materials do not mix in a bale, as each bale is completed when a new material is selected. When sold, the purity increases the revenue per bale.
  • Optimal Compaction: Advanced technology ensures maximum compaction of the material, which reduces the need for storage space and also reduces transport costs due to better space utilization in the truck.
  • Reliability: CK International is known for its high quality and long service life, meaning minimal downtime and low maintenance costs. This includes wear-resistant and bolted Hardox plates in the press chamber, which make them easy and quick to replace, as well as knives that can be rotated 4 times.
  • User-Friendliness: The machines are easy to operate, making them ideal for companies in many different industries and easy for new employees to operate safely and correctly. You can manually add more or fewer wires per bale as the bale is tied outside the press chamber. The tying device is also easy to clean as it sits on the outside of the baler.
  • High Capacity: Different motors allow precise adaptation to capacity needs, ensuring the desired amount of material is processed each day.
  • Quick ROI: Savings on wire, energy consumption, and transport help speed up return on investment.

Industries and target groups using twin ram balers

Twin-ram balers meet the needs of a wide range of industries and sectors. Typical users include:

  • Recycling and waste management companies — ideal for compressing various materials and optimizing waste processes.
  • Manufacturing and industry — suitable for companies that generate large amounts of production waste, such as cardboard boxes, plastic, or metal offcuts.
  • Retail and logistics — perfect for retailers and distribution centers wanting to reduce waste volumes and optimize storage space.
  • Municipalities and public institutions — helps with efficient waste management and reduces handling and transport costs.

Whether your business is large or small, a twin-ram baler from CK International can make your waste handling simpler and more cost-effective

Mobile twin-ram baler?

For those with multiple sites but who do not want to invest in a baler for each site, there is the option of a mobile twin-ram baler. It can be set up and taken down in one day, has the same low operating costs as the stationary balers, and offers previously unmatched flexibility.

Different Types of Waste

As mentioned, twin-ram balers can handle a wide variety of materials and compress them into heavy bales that — depending on model, feed method, and input material — can weigh up to 1.4 tonnes and have capacities of up to 35 tonnes per hour.

Some of the typical materials we see twin-ram balers compress include:

  • Cardboard: Including cardboard boxes, flat cardboard, or shredded cardboard. Using a twin-ram baler can reduce the volume of cardboard by up to 90%.
  • Plastic Waste: Found in many industries in many variants, including HDPE, LDPE, film, plastic bottles, and as parts in WEEE. Although some plastics cannot be recycled, there is increasing focus on plastic reuse. Baling plastic is essential for recycling and handling processes.
  • SRF/RDF: For waste handling companies, it is often more cost-effective to bale SRF and RDF for export. To keep transport costs down and increase sales price, heavy bales that are easy to stack and transport are required — this is where twin-ram balers excel.
  • Metal/Aluminum Cans: Metal/aluminum cans transport more easily when compressed. It also costs less as air between metal parts or inside cans takes up space. This improves the price you can get for the bales and increases recycling rates, contributing to a circular economy.

Paper and household waste are also frequently processed in the press chamber.

Depending on what is needed to process your material, there are many optional extras, including:

  • Binding device for plastic strapping or both steel wire and plastic strapping (standard is steel wire).
  • Pre-press for extra compaction of high-memory materials like plastic and film, increasing capacity.
  • Ladder and platform for easy access to the power pack.
  • Wrappers.
  • Stamper: An anti-blocking unit especially for large cardboard pieces.
  • Monitoring of baler performance.
  • Various discharge ramps/platforms/tracks.

How a twin ram baler works

A twin-ram baler can be fed by a loader or via a conveyor.

The material falls into the press chamber. Built-in sensors automatically start a press cycle that pushes the material against a steel wall using a ram. Once full bale shape is achieved, a side door opens and the bale is pushed out sideways by the second ram. During this process, the bale is automatically tied with galvanized steel wire, plastic strapping, or wrap. You can choose a combination where the machine adapts the tying method to the material type.

Afterward, the bale can be removed with a forklift or pallet truck or pushed onto a conveyor leading to storage.

Baler monitoring

Overvågning af 2-ram ballepresser - CKI - ReTec

From the baler’s display, you can see how many waste bales have been produced that day and information about errors and alarms. With remote access via mobile/tablet/PC, you can see real-time data such as total bales produced, average time per bale, uptime/downtime, number of bindings/wire usage, and energy consumption — helping optimize workflows, increase productivity, reduce downtime, increase capacity, and get more out of your waste and baler.

Operator Training for Correct Use from Day One

When you invest in a twin-ram baler from CK International, your staff receive the necessary training to operate the machine correctly. This ensures optimized operation and safety. At commissioning, up to 7 people can be trained (the norm being 2–3 persons).

Training includes:

  • Thorough overview of machine functions and control panel.
  • Step-by-step guidance on effective material compaction.
  • Safety training to minimize risk of workplace accidents.
  • Feeding materials.
  • Binding bales.
  • Baler cleaning.
  • Daily maintenance tips to extend machine life.

Upon completion, operators receive a certification.
